I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri-Columbia's Sinclair School of Nursing. My recruitment at Mizzou is part of the MizzouForward Program which aims to recruit 150 new world-class faculty to boost Mizzou's interdisciplinary research. I conduct interdisciplinary research by using a socio-technical strategy to understand the role and impact of technologies (smartphones, social media, blockchain, and artificial intelligence) among health professionals and consumers. I approach this topic by applying and testing communication, information, psychological, and organizational theories based on qualitative and quantitative data as well as collaborating with interdisciplinary researchers.

Previously, I was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Information, The University of Texas at Austin. My postdoctoral fellowship is supported by the UT Provost's Early Career Fellows Program (2023) as well as Bullard (2019-2021) and Boyvey (2021-2023) Postdoctoral Fellowships. There, I developed and taught undergraduate courses on health informatics, such as I310M: Introduction to Health Informatics and I320M: Public Health InformaticsI am also an Editorial Board Member of the International Journal of Medical Informatics.

I have research papers published in top-tier journals such as Computers in Human BehaviorCyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking, Health CommunicationInternational Journal of Medical Informatics, Journal of Health CommunicationJournal of the American Medical Informatics Association (JAMIA), New Media & Society, JMIR Public Health and Surveillance and Telematics & Informatics.

I completed my PhD in Health Informatics and Health Communication at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University under the supervision of Yin Leng Theng and Sonny Rosenthal. I obtained my BS Nursing (Cum Laude) from Trinity University of Asia (2008) and my Master of Public Health from the University of the Philippines - Manila (2012). Aside from being a researcher, I am a Registered Nurse in the Philippines.
